TURN VIDEO TRANSCRIPTS INTO SEO-FRIENDLY BLOG POSTS WITH CLAUDE 2

Turning existing transcripts into blog posts is a smart way to repackage and extend your content. With the right tools and optimization, you can turn transcripts into valuable blog assets.

In this post, we'll walk through the key steps to take your video transcripts to optimized blog posts using AI writing assistants.

Why Repurpose Old Blog Posts

  • Save time - Recycle content without starting from scratch.

  • Optimize for SEO - Long-form, text-based content ranks better.

  • Increase visibility - Surface old content in a new format.

  • Enhance authority - Share industry expertise and add backlinks.

Converting transcripts into blogs checks all those boxes. Let's look at how to do it efficiently using AI with a four-step workflow.

Choose the Right AI Assistant for the Job

AI tools like Claude 2 and ChatGPT can deliver great results when properly prompted.

I've found Claude 2 superior for pasting large amounts of text. It also does a better job at formatting clean HTML or markdown and, in my experience, handles longer form writing tasks more effectively. That being said, both tools can be effective for writing, and you should test them to see which best fits your needs.

Step 1 - Craft an Effective Prompt

The first step for creating content from an existing video or podcast is to develop an effective prompt or series of prompts that will serve as a repeatable workflow in your content generation.

Here is a prompt that I recommend using. I’ve broken it down, so that you can easily digest each aspect of the prompt. In reality, this should be a single prompt in Claude 2. If you watch the embedded video, I’ll show you how I use this exact prompt for a ‘Tractor Time with Tim,’ a YouTube account that I follow.

I'm going to paste two existing blog posts from my website, so that you can understand my tone and writing style.

Then, I'm going to paste our XML sitemaps, so that you can reference our website pages.

Finally, I am going to paste a transcript of a recent video we did.

I would like you to develop a company blog post from the transcript that matches the overall tone and voice of our other blog posts and has 2-3 links to other pages on our website. I would like you to focus the links on relevant products or services.

Step 2 - Review and Refine the Initial Draft

Once the AI generates an initial draft, review it closely. Make sure it aligns with your writing style. Many times Claude 2 will get the post correct on the first try, but you may need to keep refining the post to get the level of quality you need for your website.

Step 3 - Copy the Output and Paste it into GPTZero

Once you’ve gotten the post to a level you are pleased with, copy the text, and use an AI detector tool like GPTZero to check the quality of the post. This isn’t the only quality check you should do, but I’ve found it to be a fruitful step in determining if a post reads well.

Step 4 - Conduct Final Edits and Post

Most of the work should be done, but you still need to put your editing hat on. Make sure the headers are compelling and accurate. Also fact checking the content to ensure everything is correct. Continue to work through the page and look for broken links or other quality issues. Finally, see if there is anything you can add to the page (e.g. video embed, resource download) to make it the best possible resource for that given topic.

Promote and Track Performance

Once you've completed these four steps and posted the content, make sure to promote it and monitor its overall performance. Pay close attention to the data in Google Search Console to see how many impressions and clicks it receives. Additionally, watch the keyword rankings to gauge the effectiveness of your SEO-optimized content.
